Switch redundancy
Hi All
Hopeing for some assistance. I'm not too familier with switch redundancy. I am looking at purchaseing 2 new 2920-48G switches to use with 3 existing 2530-48G switches
I want to be able to connect my servers to both 2920's and then link the 2530's to both of them for redundancy.I have attached a diagram to expain this better with option 1 or 2. thoughts please...

Re: Switch redundancy
Best option is to stack the 2920s to form a single virtual switch - that way the servers think they are attached to one switch.

Re: Switch redundancy
Thanks for the information.
I would then still need to connect each server to both 2920's I assume?
I was thinking of connecting the 2930's via the 10GB SFP modules and enabling STP. Would this be the way to go? Any other suggestions?
thanks again

Re: Switch redundancy
Yes, I wouldn't go for your Option2, personally.
Uplink the 2530s to both 2920s. Enable RSTP on all switches anyway, but as the 2530 sees both uplinks as going to the same switch, you can LACP the links off each 2530 together and you won't have any STP-blocked links.
Patch the servers into both 2920s, then LACP the multiple links together, so both links will stay up.
