Using Voice command with no VLANs
Hi
Is it possible to use the Voice command to prioritise voip data over a procurve switch without doing any VLANs?
THe reason I ask is that we have a few procurve switches installed which are being used almost exclusively for voip traffic (they are used by a group of sales chap) there's almost no data going over them. However the phone people want to know that packet prioritisation is being done on the switches.
I don't really have sufficient time to setup the VLAN and trunk ports (ports accessble to both vlans) and I'm hoping there's a dead simple way. Cheeky I know.
If it helps the machines are all using voip softphones as well.

Re: Using Voice command with no VLANs
Hi Olly,
If they want to know that prioritisation is being done, then just turn on the "voice" command on the relevant VLAN. Your switch may not ever see packets that are candidates for prioritisation, but at least the switch will be doing it... ;-)
If there's almost no data on the switch, any prioritisation you do will make no difference anyway. QoS only helps when there is congestion.
