As part of our new and expanded hybrid cloud storage offerings, all managed by the HPE GreenLake edge to cloud platform, we have announced the fourth release of HPE GreenLake for Block Storage built on HPE Alletra Storage MP.

Designed to simplify operations across on-premises and public cloud, our next-gen hybrid cloud block storage platform offers simple, flexible and affordable storage. This new release increases capacity to 5.6PB, so you can start small and scale big.  It also offers a simplified management and support experience, with new and improved AIOps capabilities.

What is HPE Alletra Storage MP?

Let’s take a step back for a moment. If you haven’t already met HPE Alletra Storage MP, this is storage with a difference. Your basic legacy architecture with a single chassis and a pair of controller nodes makes it tricky to flexibly and cost-effectively scale out to keep pace with the demands of modern workloads. HPE Alletra Storage MP is an evolution from a traditional node pair design to a modular, disaggregated architecture that is formed of composable building blocks for a flexible, scalable storage solution. It allows you to non-disruptively add incremental controllers for more performance, more drives and more JBOFs for capacity as needed.

This new release of HPE GreenLake for Block Storage built on HPE Alletra Storage MP takes the next step on our ‘journey to one’ – the idea that one block storage platform can suit any organisation, delivering greater value with advancements in scalability and management, at a mid-range price point. With this new release we’re keeping things simple, flexible and affordable.

Keeping it simple - AI-based performance reporting and analytics has been enhanced, including end to end visibility for VM environments with new cross-stack analytics. This means reduced complexity with non-disruptive data migration from legacy platforms.  HPE GreenLake for Block Storage built on HPE Alletra Storage MP is delivered through a single platform, allowing easy, consistent access to all data within a hybrid cloud environment.

Ensuring flexibility - Release 4 continues to deliver on the value of disaggregated storage, with twice as much capacity, meaning it’s easy to start small and scale up as needed. This release provides 15TB to 5.6PB, with support for up to 16 JBOF expansion shelves. It’s easy to customise your storage based on your workloads and environment, depending on your capacity requirements and performance needs for your workloads. This maximises efficiency and performance across your infrastructure.

Saving money - The new release sets the foundations to unify workloads onto one platform. You can now scale from a small two node system to a multi-node scale out system using the same software stack. This delivers significant TCO and agility benefits.
