adding disk shelves
Hi there,
more just feeling for general comments on this one...
we are currently running a 2C8D config on an EVA5000. We currently have 16 bays free for new disks, but will need to be adding new shelves at some stage, and i am wondering about the best way to do this.
Is it feasible to add 2 new diskshelves, thus giving a 2C10D configuration. Is this supported?
Even if we had to go to a 2C12D configuration...does this mean that we would have to physically move disks around to keep the RSS. It would potentially mean that our disk groups would be populated with a number of disks not divisble by 8. we are in the rather unfortunate position of having 4 disk groups, so maybe consolidating into 2 would be preferable as well.
thanks
jason

Re: adding disk shelves
Doing a 2C10D or 2C12D would not mean that you will have to move disks around.
Preformance wise you might gain something doing that.
Going from 4 to 2 disk groups could also give you some preformance gain.
Or it might not. It realy depends..
But adding 1 or more diskshelves is fine as longe as you have the min. number of disks in a group..
