We just installed autopath on a couple of win2003 servers. Things kind of work but..
we see two unknown disks in the disk management utility that are marked unknown. (The only LUN presented to the server shows up find and works fine.)
Going into the device manager we see a number of drives.
Note: our LUN is 52
there are 5 drives listed two with an '!' by them
#1 SCSI 0,1,52 OK (this seems to be the one presented by autopath)
#2 SCSI 1,0,0 OK
#3 SCSI 1,0,52 (!) Windows cannot load drivers
#4 SCSI 1,0,0 OK
#5 SCSI 1,0,52 (!) Windows cannot load drivers
My quess is that we are seeing LUN 0 and lun 52 through each of the 2 HBAs. Or not
Is there a different version of autopath for 2003 than for 2000? How do I tell which version I received? The software came with 2 CDs and very little documentation. No release notes.

Solution
The W2k AutoPath version is only intended for W2k use. The current version is 2.01!
For W2k3 you need another AP version 1.00 for W2k3!
If you have to go for new software anyway I suggest you go for Secure Path v4.0C for Windows Workgroup which supports your VA7400 with W2k and W2k3!!
Contact your HP representative.
Cheers
Peter
