I am trying to configure an EVA5000 storage system. The EVA 5000 system got following gardware.
1x A Compaq DL380 Plll Machine (with Emulex 1 HBA FCA2408 PartNo 343073-B21)
2x HSV110 Controllers
4x Switches
4x HDD shelfs.
On the DL380 machine I installed the Windows 2003 SP1 and Command view 6.0. Also I installed the latest driver for the Emulex HBA.
But in the CommandView I couldn't see the HSV controller. It say's No controller found.
I am not sure is there any additional software is needed to configure this EVA5000? Can any boy help me?
Thans in advance
Ram

Re: Cannot find the HSV110 controller in EVA5000
The management server must be able to reach the EVA - you should create a zone that includes the server and the EVA controller (s).
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Cannot find the HSV110 controller in EVA5000
How do you have things connected - specifically what is the fibre on the DL380 connected to ??
Given your description of 4 x switches, it sounds like these might be the back end switches used to connect the HSV110 controllers to the disk enclosures. The DL380 shouldn't be connected to these...
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Rob

You need to connect the EVA and the server to a "real" SAN switch!
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

SolutionYou need to connect the DL380 to a separate SAN switch. That SAN switch will then have connections to ports FP1 and FP2 on the HSV110s.
Cheers,
Rob

Re: Cannot find the HSV110 controller in EVA5000
I again thank you all participated in this conversation.
Ok. I got another problem now. I created a Vdisk, added the DL380 as host and I present the Vdisk to host. But I can't see the disk in the DL380. Event I rescan the disk in disk manager(win2k3) I couldn't see the disk.
Can anybody advice me.
Thankyou

Re: Cannot find the HSV110 controller in EVA5000
If you've only connected one port from one controller to the SAN switch then you may not see the disks...
Try connecting all four FP ports to the SAN switch and see if that makes any difference...
However, are you planning on using this system for production purposes ? It's not recommended to use the Command View EVA server for anything other than Command View...
Cheers,
Rob

Re: Cannot find the HSV110 controller in EVA5000
Now I have connected 2 DL380 and 2 SAN switches(pn:322118-B21 HP Storage SAN switch 2/16). Each DL380 got two FCA(FCA pn:KGPSA-CB or 176479-B21) . As hp documentation I connect all the cable.
On one DL380 Command view is running. I have created a Virtual disk & presented to the other DL380s potrs. But still I couldn't see the drive in the server. Please advice me.
Also a note: Cash batteries in both HSV110 are not good. I hope It will not be a reason for my problem.
Thanks in advance

Re: Cannot find the HSV110 controller in EVA5000
Where in Windows are you looking for the drives ?
Have you looked in Disk Management ?
The cache batteries shouldn't stop the disks being seen, but you should get new ones as soon as you can...

Rob

Re: Cannot find the HSV110 controller in EVA5000
If the WBC batteries are low then the luns will be in write through mode. If both ctrls WBC batteries are bad then NO luns will be served out by the HSV ctrls.
Check the state of the WBC batteries from Cmd vw and replace ASAP as required.
Mark...
