cluster with san
Hi everybody
I am designing cluster with VA7410 -2- and san switch -4- and cluster -2- :each cluster have two server
previous day , in first I have finished cluster test on each cluster environment.
So yesterday I plan to connect switch to switch and check if the server can search both of storage in every node.
In my test
node1 can search storage1 and storage2. but node2 only search storage1 - this storage connected directly
node3 and node4 search storage2. - this mean that node3 and node4 can not search beyond the sanswitch2
Is there any one why this happen?
the configuration on sanswitch is default.
there is no zone no config
In addition, is there any one who can tell the information about the campus cluster
and setting sanswitch
because I am beginner in san config.
thanks

Re: cluster with san
1. all switches within the SAN should have unique domain IDs. This means if you connect switch to the SAN you must check prior to connecting that this switch's domain ID does NOT match to any switch's domain ID within the SAN;
2. VA also has it's LUN-level security. You can check if it's turned on or off with 'armdsp -a' output in 'SUB-SYSTEM SETTINGS' section and check security table with secure manager or armsecure command.
Check these two items and return here with your results

Re: cluster with san
Hi
I understood that you have 4 HP systems with 4 switches and 2 VA7410, and you configured two set of clusters with each VA.
1. take VA1 and configure require LUNs form a cluster with two switches in Fabric mode ( no direct connect )
2. same way do it for the second set.
3. now you can very well interlink the switch and you should be able to see ( all systems should be able to see all VA's)
4. If not then you may have to change the switch domain ID.( like 1 , 2 , 3 , ....)
Thanks & Regards
Nixon
