Configuring MSA 1500 with ACU CLI
I am having really hard time trying to configure my first SAN , MSA 1500 using just the ACU CLI.
Right now i dont have a server where i can install a HBA and connect that to the MSA 1500.So my only option is to use the console connection to a laptop and use the ACU CLI.
The setup contains a MSA 1500 with one controller and a MSA 30 disk array. When i directly connect to the console port of the MSA1500 with Hyper terminal , i get the CLI> prompt.I can see the MSA30 disks when i issue "show disks" command. Is this CLI program the same as ACU ?
When i use the ACU installed in the laptop, i cannot see the controller installed in controller #1 slot. What i need is to create a new array and initialize the array.
When i issue "controller slot=1 show" , ACU says there is no controller associate with the slot=1, weired ah ? but the plain console program shows all the disks polled through the controller.
I appriciate any tips on this .
Thanks in advance.

Re: Configuring MSA 1500 with ACU CLI
CLI can be as effective as ACU.

Re: Configuring MSA 1500 with ACU CLI
Thank You for the reply.
So if i create a new LUN in a brand new MSA 1500, thats going to create a the RAID array and initialize too ?
For an example i dont have any RAID setup, so if i use the command below,
CLI> add unit 0 data=â disk01-disk110 disk11â raid_level=6
Is this going to create a RAID array of RAID 6 from disks 01 to 10 and initialize the array too ?

Hi Wasantha,
You need not run any specific command to intialize.
As per page 14 of the doc, you can create LUNs, then global commands and so on...
