MSA 1000 + SQL 2000/5 DISK I/O Performance Issues
We have an MSA 1000 with Latest FW 4.48 connected to 1 SQL server via QLA 200 HBA with FW1.08. Single RAID 5 of 146GB 10k x 7 is presented to this server. 2nd server has 72x2 LUN Presented. FC Switch is an external 2/8q switch with SW ver 4.0.3.4-0.
I have been facing disk I/O timeouts when doing backups using SQL 2000 or 2005 backup procedures. If I do a copy paste from local disk to SAN disk it shows 120 mins remaining for a 5GB file.
When I do a copy paste on the LUN on 2nd server it goes thru fine till 50% copy completed and then halts and all drives on MSA Light up as if all drives have write activity.
This is quite strange, I have installed over 30+ MSA 1000 and many with SQL 2000 standalone and clustered and never faced such an issue.
Could someone throw some light on this issue.
I had opened a case with HP who suggested using the SCSIPORT Drivers ver 9.0.2.11. But No luck as problem still persists
Please help as i am very close to getting shot by the customer. :-)
