Current setup and issues
We recently installed a VA 7400 and have been having issues. The array attaches to brocade fibre switches. The entire environment is running in fabric mode.
In the host servers (which are running Win2k) we have the D8602B HBA's with IBM GBIC's. The driver we currently use is 4107.
We are encountering a lot of DMIO errors on the hosts and random disconnects from the Array. We are also seeing a throughput of only 40MB-50MB per second.
Can anyone with a similar setup offer suggestions? We would like to solve the disconnects and possibly improve performance.
Thank you,
Eli S.

Re: Current setup and issues
Call HP and ask them for the latest Firmware on your VA7400.
That should ??boost?? your performance.
Marco.

Re: Current setup and issues
We are actually running version 14 already. I am told by HP that this is the latest version.
Thank you,
Eli

Re: Current setup and issues
I know there's a Beta driver available for the D8602B.
If you can get it from HP, you might want to try this, I've seen remarkable improvements with it.
Is your driver configured as: InitAsNport=1?
Make sure the entry is located in:
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\AFCW2K\Parameters
and not in: \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\AFCW2K\Parameters\Devices
There's a registry script that comes with the driver, and it puts the entry in the wrong place in the registry...
Hope this helps.

Re: Current setup and issues
I have exactly the same problem with a customer w2k platform. VA7400, Brocade 2800, HBA D8602B with 3.4107 driver and Autopath V1.04.
I have perform other test with 4408 beta driver...same trouble. Disconection/reconnection from SAN every 30mn.
Is anybody have the opportunity to test other HBA like QLogic for example?
Eli, do you find something new since March?
Thanks for your help
