data protector in Esx 6.0

I don't have a lot of experience in data protector -but i ask y if it is necessary to install the service management in ESX and how to do this option?????????.

How to protect data from ESX server and specialy the VMFS files and what is the best method to backup (are y using the tar method or another methods)????????????
