Disk Management in Windows 2003 server showed different result
I have a situation:
- DL360G4 (P52) with 2 72GB HDD Raid 1 (SA6i controller)
- MSA30 with 6 146GB HDD Raid 5 (SA6402 controller)
(0-3=Raid 5, 4-5=spare)
- Windows 2003 Server with SP1 installed
- Ultrium 460 ext connected Ultra320 SCSI Card
Using Smart CD 7.2 to install as usual. OS run normal but....
In Disk management, Disk 0 shown is MSA30 logical disk instead of 72GB logical disk. Disk 1 showed 72GB logical disk.
My expected result is Disk 0 should be Raid 1 72GB logical disk and MSA30 logical disk in Disk 1. What is wrong???
Much appreciated if any one can shed some light on this matter.
Thanks
CS Seto

Try disconnecting the storage, and if you don't have an "inaccesible boot device", this won't be a problem.

Re: Disk Management in Windows 2003 server showed different result
With some of the controllers we have to face this problem. It is due to the IRQ priority of the system Board.
1.If you are good enough with the basic IRQ assignment then you can change the values in the ascending order according to your requirment.
2.You can dissconect the array for the time being and continue the installation.Later once the installation is over you can connect the array and start configuring thinks.
3.IF u can find out any options related to boot in the SA6402 controller you can disable that in the bios and continue working.

Re: Disk Management in Windows 2003 server showed different result
I've try disconnect MSA30 and re-install the DL360G4 alone.
Everything install properly... Disk 0 point to Raid 1.
As soon as I connect back MSA30 then Disk 0 will automatically point to MSA30 and Disk 1 point to Raid 1.
As I disconnect the MSA30, Disk 0 will point to Raid 1. It will auto switch whenever MSA30 is connected.
I haven't try changing the motherboard IRQ yet and I will get to it.
For the controllers, SA6i was set to boot first and SA6402 was set non bootable device.
Every thing seems normal and working. The only thing puzzling me is that the Disk 0 point to MSA30.

Re: Disk Management in Windows 2003 server showed different result
Then the only option left for you is to change the IRQ of the cards in ascending order for this you can work out with your Hardware servies provider.Even you can check some system board maufacturers site.
Hope things will get right soon with this.
