Good day.
I have 40 Proliant servers with 1gb and 2gb emulex HBA's running driver version V5-4.82a16 and ACS8.7 platform kit. On top of that is Secure Path 4.0c SP1. These servers all connect to 5x MA8000.
I just purchased a EVA5000 with VCS3.025.
Now my question is. I would like to connect servers both to the EVA and the HSG80. But how do I go about to do this?
1. Is the driver (V5-4.82a16) supported for the EVA5000?
2. Must the EVA platform kit (3.0F) also be installed and will it co-exist with the 8.7 platform kit.
3. Any special instructions? This is my first EVA installation and the support I am getting from HP South Africa is truely shocking.
What is the best practise in the scenario?

Solution
Hi Morne
We have done the same at another client as part of a project to decommission the EMA's on site. We were running VCS 3014 at the time.
V5-4.82a16 of the driver will enable you to see both the EMA's and the EVA. Be careful when installing 3.0F Platform Kit, as the newer driver version (5-5.10a9) is NOT for EMA HSG80 configurations(you have a choice between 5-4.82a16 and 5-5.10a9).
If you use zoning on your switches, create a zone for the EVA (and, if needed, another zone for the SMA), then just add the host ports to that zone (I'm assuming all Windows hosts). On the host, do a hardware scan in device manager if needed. You should see the HSV controllers under SCSI devices.
Create the host on the EVA, add all the WWN's of the HBA's in the server. Create your Vdisks and present them to the host.
On the server, do a Disk Rescan (Disk Admin).
Being your first installation, I would suggest getting help from someone who has done an installation before, could save you a lot of headaches...
Good Luck
Riaan

Thanks Riaan
Excellent and relevant information. Looks like I am getting some direction now.
