EVA3000 vdisk resize operation not responding?

Hi,

On our EVA3000 managed with Command View EVA R4.1.2.2 I have a problem with one of the vdisks. I made a number of changes to some of the vdisks that are presented to Windows hosts. Don't know if every action should be completed before another action is started (I didn't wait...) and this was the cause of my problem?
One of the actions was to increase the size of a Vdisk. But its status is "Operation in progress" for about two hours now.
I created a new Vdisk of the same size and that completed in a couple of minutes. So it seems that the resize operation is stuck somewhere. I already tried to delete the Vdisk but it can't be deleted because there is an operation in progress.

Is there a way to stop this operation somehow with SSSU for instance?

Thanks for any help,

Michel

Re: EVA3000 vdisk resize operation not responding?

The best thing to do is wait and let the controllers sort themselves out.

I did EXACTLY the same thing a few months back, extended a vdisk, it looked like it had hung, tried to delete (it said you cannot - but it did, but the space did not return).
In the end had to reboot the controllers to re-synch them..

Unfortunately patience is the best approach that I know of.

Agreed - patience is a virtue in this case. Doing multiple things without waiting for completion SHOULD be no problem - with the emphasis on "SHOULD." Especially with older versions of Command View like you're running it was pretty easy to confuse the S/W. The first thing I'd try doing is reboot the server running Command View.

Re: EVA3000 vdisk resize operation not responding?

1. At the moment wait as has been already stated
2. If issue persists, a log at the logs before restarting the SMA or the controller is suggested
3. The CV version and if am not wrong, even the VCS version may need to e updated
4. Please ensure VCS is at least 3028

Re: EVA3000 vdisk resize operation not responding?

After waiting for a very long time (15 hours) I decided to reboot the controllers one by one. When the second controller was rebooted I suddenly saw activity on the disks again (all connected system we're brought down). When it stopped after a couple of minutes I did a refresh of the storage system in CVEVA since the status was still "operation in progress. After the refresh it appeared that the status of the SAN went to Good again and the Vdisk had been deleted.

Thanks all for your suggestions,

Michel
