Hi I have a proliant cluster (2 nodes) and the external storage is a MSA1000.
I presented disk to both nodes, I installed HP MPIO Basic DSM (Device Specific Module) for Windows for MSA1000/1500 Active-Passive Disk Arrays
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp;jsessionid=FLQXQ2xqPcfGJfDttNp4m23rbnNpPhXPh3hGV2DrwLgNLfj1m2xS!-1547177607?swItem=co-43170-1〈=en&cc=us&mode=3&
The Luns are not duplicate , that is ok .
But I also installed the HP MPIO DSM (Device Specific Module) Manager for Full Featured DSMs
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?swItem=co-39104-1〈=en&cc=us&mode=3&
In the management properties I see the Icon for the management full feature , but when I expand the icon there is nothing into the icon.
I have installed the same tool but for EVAs , and when I expand the same icon I see all the disks and I can set if some of the path are prefereed or not ,
I should see some disk here in the case of the MSA1000?
or the reason is that as the MSA1000 is active/passive I will not see any , and there is no reason to install this last tool?
Thank you
W.S

Re: MSA1000 dual controller MPIO basic and Full Featured DSMs
You got it right.
MPIO basic is for A/P. It wont give you any options in Management properties.
MPIO advanced is for A/A controllers and there are options in Management properties.

Solution
MPIO Basic is NOT manageable. Plain and simple. The only real thing you can do with the manager is set your load balancing, which is not abailable in the basic flavor since you can not do load balancing on an MSA1000.
It would be nice to be able to do a Path move like you can do in Secure Path manager to TEST failover, but for some reason, HP left that out.

Re: MSA1000 dual controller MPIO basic and Full Featured DSMs
With the above two responses already in place, I would just like to re-inforce that MPIO Basic (although NOT manageable) does the bare minimum job of path failover in the event of path error conditions - manageability and granular user control is certainly lacking. Although the basic functionality that MPIO Basic offers may well be good enough for a number of organisations depending on what the real requirements are.
The other thing to keep in mind is MSA1000 A/A firmware (from what I am told by HP) is just around the corner - so if thats true then you can just stick with MPIO Basic for now and once A/A firmware is available you can then go for MPIO FF.
