EVA5000 - Win2k3 - presenting vdisk with data to another host
We have EVA5000 and WIn2k3 hosts. I have presented a Vdisk to host1 and polulated some data on it. I later wanted to present this same disk to another Win2k3 host(host2)but when I do that I just see a partition on host2 and it needs to be formatted?? How then should I present and existing disk to another host? What if my original host crashes. In that case I would loose the data on a vdisk if I rebuild the server?
Appreciate your help.

Re: EVA5000 - Win2k3 - presenting vdisk with data to another host
Hi,
you cannot present a vdisk to 2 running Windows hosts simultaneously - data corruption will occur unless the hosts are clustered, or have some other extra software that would allow simultaneous access (e.g. Polyserve)
If you want to be able to access the data on a 2nd server you should shut down your 1st server, then present the disk to the 2nd server, and then assign a drive letter (you do not need to format the disk).
Regards,
Stephen
