Hello,
I have 2 StorageWorks 8/24 FC switches, and would like to upgrade them.
Now, they have 7.3.1a firmware. I understand, that I have to upgrade to 7.3.1b -> 7.3.1c -> 7.4.0a (I don't see any 7.4.0) -> 7.4.0b -> 7.4.1 -> 7.4.1a -> 7.4.1b, so 7 upgrades. Is it ok?
Also, what about the licenses that I already have configured on the switches, will they be lost after the update? How could I save those license keys?
Regards,

SolutionLicense is not affected.
According to the notes you can update "offline" by jumping a step like 7.0.x->7.2.x->7.4.x
or online
7.0.x->7.1.x->7.2.x->7.3.x->7.4.x
unless there is other information in the notes you can go to any official version as a step, you don't need steps whitin the same major version (e.g. not needed: 7.3.x->7.3.y->7.4.x->7.4.y)
In your case it should be ok to jump
7.3.1b -> 7.4.1b
instead of
7.3.1b -> 7.3.1c -> 7.4.0a -> 7.4.0b -> 7.4.1 -> 7.4.1a -> 7.4.1b
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Firmware upgrade HP StorageWorks 8/24 License question
Hi Torsten,
Thanks a lot. BTW, what's the difference between online and offline upgrade? Should I upgrade via USB or is better via FTP?

Re: Firmware upgrade HP StorageWorks 8/24 License question
In offline mode there is a disruption during the update that server will notice.
In your case it will be online, because it is a single small step.
What protocol you use is up to you, can be USB, FTP, SFTP, etc.
I would use a small FTP server tool to provide the firmware, don't forget to save the config, just in case.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Firmware upgrade HP StorageWorks 8/24 License question
Hi Torsten,
I'm downloading the 7.4.1b file right now.
Should I extract the contents of this zip file to the folder where my ftp server is serving files, or with usb, should I extract the contents to the root folder of the usb drive, or should the root folder have to had a special name?
