How to connect SAN and NAS with HP p-class Blade Server Systems

I am new to SAN and NAS and I am looking for some doucments that can guide me on how I can connect SAN and NAS with the Blade System.

I am using 4/16 HP SAN Switch, and i have HP GbE interconnect switch in my blade server which has fiber channel pass through.

Any help and suggestions will be appreciated.

Re: How to connect SAN and NAS with HP p-class Blade Server Systems

Shalom,

NAS devices are generally accessed via NFS via a normal, copper wired network.

SAN's you connect to with fiber.

Your blade or blade enclosure has a HBA/Fiber channel interface.

Then you turn on the setup.

ioscan
ioscan -fnC disk

Might show you disk.

If the disk has never been configured you can use the PSP software for HP-UX to set the disk up. Have your intended use of the disk in mind for this.

You don't want to put a write heavy database on raid 5 for example.
