Re: How to connect SAN switch with SAN switch?
hi,
subject to the correct licensing you should just be able to connect the two switches together normally , the ports should automatically set themselves to be e-ports.
ensure you are up to date with firmware on each switch.
be aware this will cause momentary disruption on your fabric(s), is there anything currently using these switches or is it a new setup ?
also beware re-using used switches that were a principal switch in another fabric these need their configs wiping before adding into an existing fabric.
hope this helps
good luck

Hi,
maybe the SAN design referrence guide could help you:

Re: How to connect SAN switch with SAN switch?
Each switch will need a unique Domain ID number. Recommend starting with ten (10) and going up. Assuming you have dual fabrics in your SAN island, recommend having one fabric use even numbers, the other side use odd numbers.
If one of the switches is not configured, the process is very simple: connect a cable.
Otherwise, the zoning setup on both switches have to match before they will connect and form a single fabric.
Chances are, the switches have a Fabric license, so you can connect a single cable between them. Recommend letting the ports auto-negotiate speed. Once you see what speed they are running, lock those ports at that speed.
If you need more bandwidth between switches, you will need to buy and install Trunking licenses on each switch. Then you can connect multiple cables between them, As Long As The Cables On A Given Switch Are On The Same ASIC. Most Brocade switches have four-port ASICs, so for example, ports 20 through 23 are side-by-side and on a single ASIC. You do NOT have to use the same four port numbers on each switch.
Finally, don't forget to APPLY YOUR POINTS!
WHY SHOULD YOU DO THIS?
There are 3 reasons why rating replies is such an important feature:
