how to format one hard drive in an HP StoreageWorks DS2400 (A6214A) ???

does anyone know how to format one hard drive in an HP StoreageWorks DS2400 (A6214A)? Connected to an HP RP4440 runing HP-UX, or just send me a link to a doc.

It is supposed to be formatted to 512 byte/sector, I cannot find a document on any HP website on how to do that.

Hi, maybe this advisory can help?

HP StorageWorks CommandView SDM 1.04 is required for managing the DS2405.

This is an interesting note about the firmware etc, but not really related to formatting a  hard drive, I think I will have to tell the admin it has to be done through Comand View on a DS2400, thats the way it appears even though I dont have CV myself, and arrayfmt will format a whole LUN, but the only need to format one hard drive, thanks anyway.

A DS2400 or DS2405 can be used standalone or as an extension to a VA7000 array (VA7400, VA7100, etc.).

Standalone disks have 512k sectors, array extensions have 520k sectors (not usable by HP-UX).

So if you want to re-format from 520 to 512, you need command view SDM (version 1.09.0x is available from hp.com).

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
