HP EVA 5000

Hi,
I am not able to see new Fibre ports in the EVA configuration. I have EVA 5000 & have multiple servers attached to it. I am trying to install new Exchange Cluster server to that & hence got installed two new servers with 2 PCI Fibre HBA's in each server (for secure path). Have installed proper drivers & upgraded the firmware with the LPUTILNT for the HBA's. When i try to add a new host & present disks, it can not find these ports. I have two switches & have done appropriate zoning. Just not sure why I can not see these ports. If I compare with other servers I find one entry missing for COMPAQ HSV110CCL entry in Scsi & Raid controller device manager config option.

Please let me know.

Re: HP EVA 5000

Sandeep,
have you checked whether the fibre channel adapters have successfully logged into the fabric? Can you post the output of "switchShow" and "nsShow" as a simple text file attachment, please?

A typical error from me (bad habits never die) is that I create the zones, but forget to add them to the configuration before I active the new configuration.

If you don't see the HSV110CCL that is a sign that the servers cannot talk with the EVA, as the CCL is always presented as LUN 0. It is not a disk device and as such not manageable via SSP.

Re: HP EVA 5000

Hi,
I am sure I have added & saved settings in Zonning. Infact one has to save first & than enable before exiting the setup. Have attached the files as required.

Re: HP EVA 5000

Hello Sandeep,

I see that the name server has registered the EVA with "NO SCELL" which usually indicates an uninitialized system, but that is obviously a bug in the EVA as you say you already have servers accessing the system ;-)

I have seen that myself and was able to "fix" it by toggling the EVA's ports with "portDisable n" and "portEnable n". Of course this will disrupt traffic for a moment, but I just like to mention it in case somebody is confused by it.

Unfortunately you don't say which switch ports are affected. Have you noticed that the system on port 26 of "Blue_Switch" has not entered a "NodeSymb:"? I don't think it matters, but it looks to me that it is the same system that is connected to port 26 of "Red_Switch" and the switch shows an entry, there.

It sounds to me that you are not doing this for the first time (no offense intended - just the opposite), so it can only be an oversight. If you tell which switch ports the servers are connected to and post a "cfgShow" (as an attachment, please - an in-line paste will compress any space characters) I will see if I can take a look at it - I like those challenges.

Re: HP EVA 5000

Hi,
Thanks for your prompt help. Infact problem is resolved now. As you said in your first reply, I just forgot to add entry in config window. I had to add the new zone entry in config windows & that solved the issue.
Thanks,

Sandeep
