HPDM and linux clusters

Dear All

Please answer the following -

HP’s HPDM4 install and configuration guide says the following about linux clusters “Please ensure that the device names are the same across all nodes”.

The default “/etc/udev/rules.d/40-multipath.rules” file automatically generates acceptable device names for standalone servers into “/dev/mapper/mpath*”.

However I need to configure an Oracle RAC cluster and I want to be absolutely sure the same LUN has the same device name on each node.

This might be achieved by using the disk id as a device name – with a disk name format like those in “/dev/disk/by-id”.

I am not sure what people normally do when they configure HPDM with a cluster to ensure device names are identical

Please let me know if you can think of a better way of doing this?

Thanks

Nick
