HSV110 ON_LINE REPLACEMDNT
I'd like to have recommendations when it comes
to replace an failed HSV110 controller:
1- Power down the failed controller
2- Install the new one (with batteries)
3- power on the new controller
In this case the remaining controller shoud upgrade/downgrade the new controller to the same VCS of the running one.
The other option is to swap the PCMCIA card containign the VCS and avoid this controller to controller firmware adjust.
Feedbacks from the field & recommendations are appreciated.

Re: HSV110 ON_LINE REPLACEMDNT
I agree with ur points.
Don't mess up with PCMCIA cards.
Whenever u r replacing the HSV controller, the Controller will be updated to the same firmware level as Primary (running) controller, if u r doing the activity in online.
If u r doing the activity in offline, the controller with the lower version of VCS will get updated by the controller with higher version.
so, i will suggest u to follow this steps,
* By default, U should take a complete back up of the array
* Take SSSU output
* If the controller is intermittently working & few of the LUNs are online on this problemetic controller , failover those LUN to the working controller. u can use "spmgr" utility for the same.
* Shutdown the problemetic controller through OCP panel
* Replace the controller with batteries.
* Power on the controller.
* Firmware level check & update (if required) will heappen in the background.
* wait for 5 min., & check the controller through CV EVA for VCS version, battery condtn etc.
* restore the LUN paths (through "spmgr")
Thanks & Regds,
Saravanan
