hi i have one MSA 1000 it OCP is showing I2C Read Failure Error. The OCP is stuck and the buttons are not functioning we can't navigate. Similarly the I2C error can't be deleted. Can you please tell me what is the fault because the database on the MSA 1000 is working fine. One thing more i would like to know is that suppose the controller goes down and we replace the controller with new, will the new controller pick the disk configuration or it will be flashed.

Solution
Hi Khurram,
Regarding your questions posted on adifferent thread
"How to identify if its a genuine fault"
You need to have a call logged with Hp and provide them the logs from the MSA for analysis.
Have you checked the status of LED's on the MSA??
For Your Reference.
Steps to collect Logs from MSA1000.
1.)Connect the serial cable which was shipped with the MSA1000 disk array into the MSA1000 active controller.
2.)Open an Windows HyperTerminal Session, Please set the Communication settings to :
19200 baud, 8 data, NO parity, 1 Stop and no Flow Control.
3.)Click on Transfer on the Hypertrm Window, Click Capture text and save the text file to Desktop.
4.)Run the following command on the hypertrm session
CLI> SHOW TECH_SUPPORT
If the above command is not available for any reason please execute the following:
CLI> SHOW THIS_CONTROLLER
CLI> SHOW OTHER_CONTROLLER
CLI> SHOW UNITS
CLI> SHOW DISKS
CLI> SHOW CONNECTIONS
Regards,
Prabhu

Re: MSA 1000 I2c Error
Hi,
the I2c bus (i square bus) is a bus (developped by PHILIPS) used for diagnostics and error detections on the HW. It certainly means you have a bad controller. try a hard reset but I'm afraid you'll have to replace the controller.
