MSA 1000 SAN Connection to an IBM RS6000 running AIX
Anybody know anything about doing this?
We have a RS6000 which we want ti connect VIA HBAs to our SAN (MSA1000) would also need Secure Path running on it. Can't seem to find any info from HP.

Re: MSA 1000 SAN Connection to an IBM RS6000 running AIX
I don't think you'll be able to do it. The MSA1000 does not support AIX-systems. Only Windows, Netware, Linux, and HPs own OSes (Tru64 Unix, VMS and soon HP-UX).
There is a SecurePath Version for AIX, but it only supports HSG80 and EVA systems.
Regards,
Stephen

Re: MSA 1000 SAN Connection to an IBM RS6000 running AIX
As Stephen said. The AIX platform kits do not support the MSA1000, or have a valid driver for it. The AIX platform kit will only work with HSG80 or EVA storage controllers.
You can probably find a used HSG80 for less than the cost of a new MSA1000.

Re: MSA 1000 SAN Connection to an IBM RS6000 running AIX
Gentlemen,
Thank you for the information.
Amusingly the cost of the HBA's for the IBM box is around the same as the Disks we'll now be putting in our AIX box.
Thanks again
