MSA Boot problem

When I power up the MSA 1000 it's give version 1.1 , I wait for about 4 minutes but with no activity , I am in the first step of configuration of the MSA 1000 with four DL380G5 servers , the led of the fiber module of the MSA don\t give any activity .
I put the cable in the front of the MSA to make serial connection but I can't connect.
can you advice or send some link to guide me

Re: MSA Boot problem

The MSA1000 firmware version 1 did not have a command line interface - you had to run the Array Configuration Utility (ACU) on a server. The LEDs on the Fibre Channel I/O module are status indicators and do not signal any I/O activity.

I strongly recommend that you upgrade the box to a more recent firmware. Before you start, you should get in touch with your service provider, because you might need to replace the SCSI/EMU module. Some very early models had a non-flashable 'flash'-chip - great technology, eh?

Re: MSA Boot problem

Uwe, I think Samah is referencing the OCP FW.

Samah, remove the controller and look into the slot and verify that some pins didn't get bent.

Re: MSA Boot problem

Good point, John.

Maybe it is something simple as a line speed that does not match. Many devices use 9600bps, but the MSA1000 uses 19200.
