N class/ Emulex LP8000 / Brocade 2800 / CMD 7280 FC disk array
Hello,
Can someone please give me some things to watch out for in this configuration.
We loaded the Emulex driver on the N class, but had to edit it to make it fabric connect.
We did not wat to use SAM for this as it may make every adapter a fabric device.
We recompiled the kernel with no errors but then ioscan was taking 30 minutes, and we could see only 1 disk volume which was mapped to the LP8000 but not the other 2 disk volumes.
We are using the CMD 7280 to do the WWN mapping.
We have 3 x W2000 systems connected to the same switch (V2.4) and raid array with LP8000s with no issues.
We beleve all the latest patches have been installed, but rechecking this.
Regards,
Fergu

Re: N class/ Emulex LP8000 / Brocade 2800 / CMD 7280 FC disk array
Hi, when you use w2k or nt machines, you need to mask devices not used for each server, because servers will mount automatically all disks devices. Maybe you have any software that is doing this mask.
I don't know why ioscan takes 30 minutes, try do an ioscan only for disks, you will see if disks are the responsibles.
I think your hba is a third party card, because I never edit a file in A5158A cards, HP FC cards with fabric capabilities. Maybe you need to repatch server. Or Driver is not properly installed.
Good Luck
