putting more disks in EVA3000

Hello,

We've got an EVA3000 in base config with 8 Disks (146 GB) in 2 Shelves (4 each shelf).

Now we've bought 4 additional Disks (300 GB).

What is the best way to put them into EVA:

- all four in one shelf.
- two in each shelf.
- other?

Thanks in advance.

So long,
Andre

Re: putting more disks in EVA3000

Always spread equally over all disk drive enclosures - so, two per shelf.

Take your time when installing the drives!!
Wait a couple of minutes between inserting each drive.

Indeed, there is conflicting information. One says you can install drives in groups of up to 4 - the other suggests you install one drive and check if appears in CV-EVA, else there is a risk that two disk drives end up with the same name.

I have seen it, so I go with the second way.

I have added the drives, each by each, waiting
til the lights went from red to green, and busy
lights starts to begin flashing. All ok.
Now I must wait until levelling is done.

Thanks all for your replies.

Hm, did you configure the system for automatic addition of disks to disks groups? It is not the default - in that case you have to manually add the disks.

A disk drive, by the way should become ready in max. 70 seconds. If it does not - pull it out, wait a minute and try one more time. If it still does not work properly - return it to the vendor.

Thanks for all your advices.

All is fine.
The levelling of the diskgroups
took about 5 hours.
