SAN and DAS Devices differenciation

Hi All,

We have Virtual Array 7100 connected directly to a HP-UX server on one HBA connected through Fibre optic cable.

Also, on another HBA, we have conneted to a Brocade FC-AL. From the switch we have exported few LUNS to this server.

I am seeing all the LUNS, both from DAS and also the SAN.

Is there anyway we can differenciate between the two by use of any commands, tools etc. I am developing a SAN application in which I need to build a schematic diagram depicting the various devices which are connected to this HP server.

Re: SAN and DAS Devices differenciation

Hi ,

Thanks for all your mails.

The devices which are displayes in the ioscan command shows all the disks which are visible by the HP-UX system.

We have used a combination of ioscan command and other SNMP based tools to find out the information about a storage device.

The problem has been resolved now.

Thanks once again for all your inputs.

Regards,

Sukant
