sc to lc connection

We have a 1gb fibre card in our V2500 and are trying to connect it to a 2gb switch in our SAN. We are using an sc to lc fibre cable but can not see the disks thru and ioscan even though the adapter shows up claimed. Anyone else run into this problem b4? Thanks,

Re: sc to lc connection

We have both 1GB HBA's connected to 2GB switches, and 2GB HBA's connected to 1GB Switches in our SAN(s). The SC to LC should not be your problem.

Can you provide more detail about your setup. (What's your storage controller.. Etc) Maybe then someone could help you.

Are the switches in same SAN domain?

Re: sc to lc connection

Hi,
Check the settifor the switch port. I belive it is hard set to 2GB. Change the setting to auto or 1GB hard. I have the same mix of 1 GB HBA and 2GB switch as you and , if configuration is correct, it is not any problem.

Re: sc to lc connection

Out setup is V2500 to a IBM 2109 switch with an ESS model 800(shark) at the end. We encountered an system crash last night, hopefully not related to this, but once the systems came up I could see the disks. However, when I ran a diskinfo it hung for awhile but eventually came back with the info. So, I'm still having trouble with the setup somewhere if anyone has any ideas?

Re: sc to lc connection

For an ESS, contact your IBM support rep.

They have current patch, driver, firmware and EMS Matrices, and they really are mandatory. I would expect that either the firmware is not current enough or the HBA driver for HP is not current enough.

As for your crash, it could even be the EMS. I had a crash on an old T-600(IBM F20) last year when the EMS system version was not current with the system patches. I believe that was the June 2002 support plus set with the Dec 2001 EMS versions. Fortunately, the T is gone now.
