The array is SCRUBBING

I run "armdsp -a" periodically to check the status of my VA7410.

Below message was found sometimes from the output. It seems a normal operation of the VA. However, does anyone know what exactly this message means?

Re: The array is SCRUBBING

Hi,
Have you utilised the full space in the array ?
This message comes if you have not or left very little space in the array.
We have been told by HP that our VA7410 performance is degraded because we allocated nearly all available space and that it moves blocks around scrubbing even in raid 0/1, not just in Autoraid mode.

Also due to uneven use of the LUNS the array appears to be in a constant "disk scrubbing" mode or "Optimizing array" mode. The Optimizing array comes and goes, but the "disk scrubbing" appears to be almost always going on.

This message is non-critical.

Re: The array is SCRUBBING

SCRUBBING means that the storage array is verify the disks (there is additional check data at the end of each disk block for end-to-end verification) and the meta data.

Is there any performance implication about this message? And any tunning is required?
