Re: Upgradation of Firmware
Hi, there's a 6.1.1d firmware.
Check the release notes for each version, they tell you the upgrade path:
http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01660077/c01660077.pdf
Upgrading to Fabric OS 6.1.1d is allowed only from Fabric OS 6.0.0b and later.
So you need to upgrade to 6.0.0b first
http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01384033/c01384033.pdf
Upgrading to Fabric OS 6.0.0b is only allowed from Fabric OS 5.3.x.
So you need 5.3.x
http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01403781/c01403781.pdf
Upgrading a switch from Fabric OS 5.0.x or a previous release to 5.3.0 requires a two-step process:
first upgrade to Fabric OS 5.1.x or 5.2.x and then upgrade to 5.3.1.

Re: Upgradation of Firmware
Hi Jesudoss,
Firmware upgrade path would be as below
1)5.2.10d to 6.0.0b
2)6.0.0b to the 6.1.1d.(This is the latest firmware).
procedure for upgrading firmware:
Example for the 6.1.1d
Create a directory for the firmware files and download the
firmware from the HP web site into a UNIX or Windows
machine as explained above.
1. Verify an FTP service is running on a Unix or
Windows machine.
2. In Unix, verify there is a pound (#) sign before root
in the /etc/ftpusers file.
3. Telnet to the switch.
4. At the login prompt, type admin.
5. Type the password.
6. At the prompt type the command:
firmwaredownload
7. Follow the onscreen prompts, shown next:
Do you want to continue [Y/N]: Y
Server Name or IP Address: (Enter the IP address
of the FTP server where the firmware resides.)
User Name: administrator
File Name: v6.1.1d ( this is the directory name that v6.1.1d- the new firmware version exists, no need to type release.plist)
Password: (Enter your password.)
firmwaredownload has started.
Start to install packages......
The firmware files begin to download. This takes
approximately 5 to 10 minutes.
8. Upon completion of a successful download, you will see the following
prompts:
Verification SUCCEEDED
firmwaredownload completes successfully.
firmwaredownload has completed successfully.
Connection to host lost.
9. Re-telnet to the switch, as follows:
C:\>telnet
Fabric OS (Switch)
Switch login: admin
Password: (Enter your password.)
Switch:admin> firmwareshow
Primary partition: v6.1.1d (new firmware version)
Secondary Partition: v6.1.1d (new firmware version)
Switch:admin>
