Re: What does HSG stand for

I remember having a conversation (message posting party) about thi same topic sometime back, but can not seem to find the thread at the moment.

I did find this (and maybe this is what I remember seeing)...

Not exactly based on HSG, but can give you some background in the first few messages posted.

Re: What does HSG stand for

In fact it is not "Rev G", but the Hierarchical Storage - 'HS' part is right. The third character of the DEC Storageworks line of controllers was used to designate the type in interfaces between the controller and the disk spindles (backside) and controller and servers (frontside).

'C' - CI backside interface / CI frontside interface

'D' - DSSI backside interface / DSSI frontside interface

'J' - SCSI backside interface / CI frontside interface

'Z' - SCSI backside interface / SCSI frontside interface

'G' - SCSI backside interface / Fibre Channel frontside interface

'V' - Fibre Channel backside interface / Virtualized Fibre Channel frontside interface

I think I must have been doing this for WAY too long ;-)

Re: What does HSG stand for

G I heard was for "GLASS" which was for the fibre connections.
