What level firmware for the 146Gb disks is supported by HSG80 controllers v87f?

Hi ! I am getting instance code 03d04000 when i attach a disk with firmware hpb6 or hpb7 to the hsg80 ... the other disks in the array are hpb2 or hpb1 .. is this a firmware issue or a controller shlef issue?

Hi Stewart,

What version of 8.7F are you running ?

I'm not sure on the answer to your question, but it may be that you need to patch ACS...

The ACS V8.8 Troubleshooting Guide says:

""A failure occurred while attempting a SCSI TEST UNIT READY or READ CAPACITY command to a device. The device type is unknown to the controller.
In this instance, the associated ASC and associated ASCQ fields are undefined (see the 'Device Discovery Error report' section that starts on page 53).""

Can you test the disk drive on a different slot and/or attach the entire error message in a .TXT file, please?

There is no single correct 'firmware level' for all disk drives attached to a HSG controller and I have not seen any compatibility tables published within the last years.

(missed a cut&paste, sorry)

The message refers to instance code 03D04002, the code "03D04000" is not documented so I assumed you made a typing error.

Hi all ! This turned out to be some disks that were transferred from an MSA1000 (probably different disk signatures). Once the signatures were cleared the error disappeared. Thanks to all who replied ...
