2 node cluster wih FC direct storage
Hello,
With the latest version is it possible and is it supported to create a cluster connect by FC (direct) to an MSA 2070?
Thank you.

Re: 2 node cluster wih FC direct storage
Not totally sure what you're asking but I think you're asking if you can have a 2 node cluster with MSA. If that is your question, the answer is you can't. We use GFS2 to connect external block storage and that requires 3 hosts.
I've heard something about a plug-in for Alletra MP that bypasses GFS2 and allows a single host to connect; I'm trying to learn more about that but don't have that information. I haven't heard if anything similar is possible for the MSA but I'll poke around for info on that too.
I work at HPE

Re: 2 node cluster wih FC direct storage
Hi Calvin,
Thank you for your answer.
You understood correctly we are trying to provide a solution to one of our customers based on two nodes connected to an MSA.
Please let me know if you find anything.
Best regards

Re: 2 node cluster wih FC direct storage
Hello, good morning. Taking advantage of this thread, is it possible to use storage from another brand, or even from previous versions MSA 2040 - 2050? I understand that if it works at the OS level (Ubuntu), VM essentials should be able to support it?
Additionally, if the minimum is three nodes due to the GFS2 limitation, and one node fails, the entire cluster would fail. So, to maintain HA, should there be four nodes?
Best regards.
