How we can disconnect VME Machines network interface machine is run like vSphere

How can we safely disconnect a virtual machine’s network interface in HPE VME Essentials?
We want to understand whether the VME environment supports a method similar to VMware vSphere — where we can disconnect or disable a VM’s NIC from the hypervisor layer while the machine is running, without shutting it down.
Please confirm the recommended procedure and any impact on VM operations.

Hello @SevanSardarian,
Yes, HPE VME Essentials supports live NIC management. You can safely disconnect a VM’s network interface while it’s running via the VM Essentials Manager UI or API, similar to vSphere. This action immediately disables network connectivity but does not affect VM compute or storage operations.

Hello @SevanSardarian

Absolutely! HPE VME Essentials enables dynamic NIC control for running virtual machines. If you're looking to disconnect a VM’s network interface while it’s running, similar to how it works in VMware vSphere, you can do this directly through the Essentials Manager UI or via Morpheus CLI/API calls. Once disconnected, the VM immediately loses network access through that interface, but the VM’s CPU and disk operations remain unaffected. No reboot or downtime is required.

This feature is especially useful for isolating VMs during troubleshooting, testing firewall rules, or managing dynamic network configurations. Just be sure to notify any dependent services or users beforehand, as the network drop is instant.

Hope this information helps.

Sanika.
