Update HPE Proliant Firmware on HPE Vm Essentials with HPE OneView

Hello,

we currently use several VMware clusters on Proliant hardware, whose firmware we update using HPE OneView routines. We are currently evaluating switching to HPE VM Essentials, but we don't currently see a way to automate the firmware updates for the Proliants. Are there other options, or is it actually the case that the HPE update tools for HPE servers are not compatible with the HPE hypervisor?

Thank you.

Re: Update HPE Proliant Firmware on HPE Vm Essentials with HPE OneView

You can just update the firmware for your VME hosts like you would do for a Vmware host with Oneview.
It depends a little bit on how you exactly have configured your profiles today, but for the VME (Ubuntu) hosts, you would choose "Firmware Only" in the profile.

Today, we do not yet support online updates for Ubuntu hosts, but that can change in the future.

I personally do recommend to install the MCP package for Ubuntu (from https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/swd/detail?swCollectionId=MTX-959489ad3d2448b9#tab1) so you have the AMSd and OS info is flowing into the iLO and Oneview.
