How to interpred the OnrView Advancec Statistics Value for the UplinkPorts
Hello All,
I have to troubleshoot my OneView Appliance to be able to figure out, if an network issue, is related to the utilisation of the Virtual Connect ehrernet modules 110/10D.
So far I was able to identify the where to find the advance statistics in Oneview, but now I am struggeling to identify if the values are okay or they exctly indicate as far as overload or existing bottle necks are concerned.
This is an example how they look like -see attachment!
Regards
Eugen

I need to verify that our network issue - intermittent loss of network connection - on VMs is not related to issues on the Virtual Connect Module.

Re: How to interpred the OnrView Advancec Statistics Value for the UplinkPorts
Hello,
we are on the way to eliminate all involved parts from end to end to identify the root cause for the issue.
Due to the fact that we are not in control of the data centre setup - DC-NetWorkSwitches udn SAN / Storage, we decided to start from the blade side of view, then checking the C7000 setup including the VCs.
The next step then is to search inside the VMware setup to try to improve the situation.
However I can read the statistics, but I do not know how to interpred the values.
It is clear that a value of 0 is good, but the othert ones, do I need to if there a difference on different ports or what they exactly mean to see wher and how we can or need to modify our setup.
By the way we are using HPE-ESXi Images, right now we arew on ESXi 6.0 U3D Build 6921384.
Hope this helps.
Regards
Eugen

Re: How to interpred the OnrView Advancec Statistics Value for the UplinkPorts
Hello,
thank you for your reply.
I need to know how to interpred these counters and how to value them properly.
Our environment is quite big and I need to be able to analyse the Oneview setup to answer performance questions from our customer.
The setup looks like this:
- 33 C7000 enclosures
- 264 Interconnect modules
- 2500 Virtual Machines
- 30 Oracle RAC cluster
- 300 physical HPE DL Servers (DL 380, DL580, etc.
- 125 ESXi Servers running VMwarwe 6.0.U3d
- 1 OneView Appliance
- HPE Insight Manager with some enclosures which need to be migrated into Oneview
- RHEL and windows servers
To keep this environment up and running I need to be able to encounter possible bottle necks to grow and improve the existing setup, and on top of that I ned to be able to verify that possible issues are releated or even not related to the HPE based infrastructure.
An explanantion on these counters would be very helpfull to look forward into the near future.
Regards
Eugen

Re: How to interpred the OnrView Advancec Statistics Value for the UplinkPorts
The Advanced Statistics counters are explained in the Virtual Connect User Guide. Refer to this version of the User Guide, and look starting at Page 234. In order to find the stat and its description, remove the "rfc####" prefix from the name.
