HP SCOM Integration Kit licensing
Hello,
I have a question about HP SCOM Integration Kit licensing. HP SCOM Integration Kit is a part of HP OneView for Microsoft System Center product. Do I need to buy OneView license if I need to use only HP SCOM Integration Kit for SCOM monitoring through windows agent, NOT ILo SNMP?

Re: HP SCOM Integration Kit licensing
Entitlement to the Microsoft SC and VMware olugins is provided by purchasing either an HP OneView or Insight Control license.

Re: HP SCOM Integration Kit licensing
But, how about HP ProLiant Server and BladeSystem Management Packs for Microsoft System Center? They have separate downloads and documentation, where I don't see any licensing information.
When downloading, I need to agree with HP End User License Agreement, where is written:
License Grant. If you abide by this Agreement, HP grants you a non-exclusive non-transferable license to use one copy of the version or release of the accompanying software for your internal purposes only, and is subject to any specific software licensing information that is in the software product or its Supporting Material.

Re: HP SCOM Integration Kit licensing
Hi,
I've been searching for hours for an answer to the same thing.
The HP ProLiant Server Management Pack (v 2.2) for System Center which looks to be part of Insight Control/OnewView and requires a license, it requires DMC and DMS installations.
Then there is HP ProLiant Server Management Pack (v 1.80) for Microsoft System Center
http://www8.hp.com/us/en/products/server-software/product-detail.html?oid=3428082
Which is listed as a simple download with no mention of licenses and does not require DMC or DMS installations.
The latest version of the (v1.80) manual was Dec 2014 and does not mention licenses.
Can you please clarify what the licensing and funcationality differences are?
Thanks,
James

Re: HP SCOM Integration Kit licensing
Hi,
I've found more information on this.
From the HP ProLiant Server Management Pack (v 1.x & 2.2) for Microsoft System Center User Guide:
If you purchased HP Insight Control for Microsoft System Center as part of an HP Insight Control license, you are entitled to 24 x 7 HP Software Technical Support and Update Service. See the information below on how to register and use this service.
If you did not purchase licenses for HP Insight Control, then you may receive technical assistance via e-mail at SMSIntegrationPack.Support@hp.com or from the HP Service Support Center forum at http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/ITRC-Microsoft-System-Center/bd-p/itrc-1235
From that forum there is a post (http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/ITRC-Microsoft-System-Center/Licensing-Costs/td-p/4452246) advising that "HP delivers the ProLiant Server Management Pack, BladeSystem Management Pack, and the HP Server Updates Catalog for Configuration Manager 2007 for free. Support is through email".
And
"We will continue to provide the ProLiant Server Management Pack, BladeSystem Management Pack, and the HP Server Updates Catalog for Configuration Manager 2007 for free. Support is only through email and a 24x7 service is not provided".
From the HP SCOM Integration Kit (v 3.1) User Guide:
License: This kit, included with HP OneView for Microsoft System Center, is licensed as part of HP OneView
Advanced or HP Insight Control.
So it looks like the kit needs a license, as does Operating System Deployment (OSD) functionality, but the SCOM packs themselves can be used without a support contract.
They don't make this easy do they!!
Thanks,
James
