HPE OneView generates no alerts for specific DL360 Gen10

Hi everyone

Im using HPE OneView 7.20.00 to monitor 17 of my ESX-Host Servers (All DL360 Gen10 ProLiant). Just recently i noticed that one of my 17 ESX-Hosts does not generate any alerts when specific hardware events are triggered.

For example i pulled 1 Nic from every server and all except one server generated an alert. The same is true when pulling one PSU or one FC HBA. The result is always that one server that does not want to generate any alerts.

I've tried updating iLO5, resetting iLO5 to factory defaults and deleting and adding the server again in OneView, nothing helped. iLO itself does seem to register the event correctly as i could see a server health degraded from the iLO web GUI when i was testing.

What i find interesting tough is that when looking at the device inventory of the server within OneView i can see that the green circle changes to a warning triangle when i triggered the above mentioned hardware events. So somehow communication seems to be working fine between iLO and OneView and the server is not in maintenance mode.

Im out of options, does anybody else have an idea what i could try?

Can you share what iLO firmware version you have installed?  We use SNMP to collect event details as they are generated from the iLO.  So as long as you don't have a firewall blocking SNMP between the iLO and the appliance, it could be an iLO firmware related issue.

Do you have a an HPE support case?

Re: HPE OneView generates no alerts for specific DL360 Gen10

Hi Chris

Thanks for the reply! Currently the iLO5 is on version "2.91 May 18 2023". All my other servers that are working fine use the same exact version, as this was deployed via an SPP baseline. There is no firewall blocking any ports or protocols because all traffic is internal.

I have not yet opened an HPE support case.

Then a support case is needed to try to identify why OneView isn't getting the alerts.  Please open a support case with the HPE OneView support team, not the server hardware support team.
