Re: HPE OneView Update downtimes
Hello there, I think more information is required on what you're trying to do exactly.
Is this OneView a virtual appliance just for monitoring purposes?
Or, is this OneView related to a Synergy Frame with hardware such as Composers, Virtual Connect, servers, etc?
What is the current version of OV, and the target version that you want to upgrade to?
This is the Non-Synergy Upgrade Paths
https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=emr_na-a00117617en_us
And this is the OneView for HPE Synergy Firmware and Driver Update Guide

Regards

SolutionOk, do keep in mind that this kind of upgrades needs a lot of planning and sometimes hops between versions.
Also, on each OV hop, you may need to perform firmware upgrades.
Please take a look at this Upgrade Paths and plan ahead.

Hope this helps

Re: HPE OneView Update downtimes
As was just mentioned you must plan around your OS requirements and compute module firmware/drivers prior to deciding on your infrastructure that supports your workload.
OV 5.3 must go through the 5.40 milestone release. From that milestone you can upgrade through each milestone (6.0, 6.30, 7.0, 8.0) to a current release-- but those do NOT all support the same firmware bundle or OS versions.
For example, OV 5.40 supported only firmware bundles from 2020 and 2021! OV 6.3 dropped those from 2020, and later OV 8.0 dropped those from 2021, etc. the details of which are in the links provided.

Re: HPE OneView Update downtimes
Hi,
Thank you for the helpful info. What is the highest version I can update to while running on Composer 1?
Best,
Peter

Re: HPE OneView Update downtimes
The last version supported on Composer (1st gen) is HPE OneView 6.6
This is documented here, scroll down to "LTS" or look for "Composer (1st gen)"
https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=emr_na-a00117617en_us
HPE OneView updates to 6.6 will discontinue after 31-December-2023, support will continue through your contract date.
