Incorrect HPE Oneview Warning Message Displayed in iLO5 After Upgrading to Version 2.97

Dear all,

Good day to you.
Recently, I noticed that after upgrading iLO5 to version 2.97, there is a warning on the iLO login page:

"This system is being managed by: HPE OneView. Changes made locally in iLO will be out of sync with the centralized settings."

To the best of my knowledge, this warning only appears when you select the "managed" mode when adding a hardware server to HPE OneView. From my understanding, my machine is in "image.png" mode, and the presence of this warning seems incorrect. I reported this issue to HPE support, and their response was that I should consult the OneView team.

I would like to know if it's possible to remove this warning. It can be misleading. I am using HPE OneView versions 6.60.04-0476963 and 8.40.00-0480384, and both versions exhibit this issue with "monitored" servers.

If you click on the HPE OneView text (that should be a link) on the iLO login page, you can confirm the appliance iLO thinks is managing the server.  That link is only expected when a server is managed by OV, and not when a server is monitored by OV.  If you've confirmed that no other appliance is managing it at this point, but the iLO still believes it is managed by an appliance incorrectly, you can log into the iLO and look for a menu on the lefthand side for HPE OneView.  Selecting that would display a page that should have a Delete button.  That Delete button can be used for iLO to clear out the configuration it has related to the appliance it thinks is managing it. But, this should only be done if you are sure there is not an appliance (no longer) managing it.

Re: Incorrect HPE Oneview Warning Message Displayed in iLO5 After Upgrading to Version 2.9

Hi @TKop
Thank you for providing the information.

I can confirm that this machine is monitored by a single instance of HPE OneView. According to the design of HPE OneView, a hardware server can be monitored or managed by only one HPE OneView instance. I have also verified the following:

  1. The warning message on the iLO login page is not a hyperlink.

  2. After logging into the iLO, I couldn't find a menu on the left-hand side for HPE OneView.

To clarify, my server's hardware is monitored by the HPE OneView instance, not managed, and  I can confirm that the warning message appears only when the server's hardware is managed by the HPE OneView instance.
The issue started occurring after upgrading iLO5 to version 2.97. If I downgrade it to version 2.96 or any earlier version, the warning message disappears. That's the concern I'd like to address.

Thank you for your assistance.

Thanks

Re: Incorrect HPE Oneview Warning Message Displayed in iLO5 After Upgrading to Version 2.9

Hello,

Correct, only one appliance can monitor or manage a server at a time. This was really starting to sound like an iLO issue given, it is monitored in OV, there is no hyperlink on the iLO, no menu on the iLO, and it is only showing up with a certain version of iLO.  I was curious so simply tried an update to iLO 2.97 on a OV monitored server and saw the same issue as well.  I then tried 2.98 and it had the same behavior.  Going back to 2.96 cleared it all up.  Thus does appear to be an iLO issue and will report to them.
