I am attempting to upgrade my 1st Gen 10+ server to the 2023.09.00.00 SPP or the 2023.03.00.00 SPP and I am getting this error message:
Issue: Unable to fully discover the port map information for the server hardware.
The devices on this server are listed below:
2 x HPE SN1100Q 16Gb 1P FC HBA
1 x Intel(R) Eth Network Adptr OCP3.0 X710-DA2
I have tried changing the OV profile to Firmware Only instead of FW and SUT tools, and get the same message. Before I open a HPe case, I thought I would try the forums first.
Thoughts?
Thanks in advance...Scott

Re: Issue: Unable to fully discover the port map information for the server hardware.
This is typically caused by a Redfish issue with an adapter, or older iLO firmware versions. Getting this message should not prohibit OneView operations, like applying a Server Profile or performing firmware updates.
Can you share the following:
- OneView applance version
- Installed iLO firmware
- Installed firmware for both the HBA and Intel NIC

Re: Issue: Unable to fully discover the port map information for the server hardware.
Additionally, I tried upgrading the firmware the old fashion way by simply mounting the SPP ISO to the iLo interface, and the upgrade process started but never completed, and errored out. So this removes the OV appliance from the equation as a culprit.

Re: Issue: Unable to fully discover the port map information for the server hardware.
For what it's worth, I've had this same issue multiple times.
In my experiance, you need to match the iLO version with the OneView version - not sure how you know what version works with what, I've always found that using the latest iLO version and the latest OneView version works for me.

Re: Issue: Unable to fully discover the port map information for the server hardware.
you need to match the iLO version with the OneView version - not sure how you know what version works with what,
We document the minimum required iLO firmware versions in the HPE OneView Support Matrix. However, we have not changed that minimum requirement in quite a number of years and releases. There have been Redfish enhancements from iLO and option adapter vendors to improve Redfish inventory reliability. Often the case, these option adapters are not responding to a Redfish call OV expects. In the OV 7.x releases, we made improvements within OV to handle those cases better. This only applies to Gen10 and newer, with OV 8.30 being the minimum required version for Gen11 servers.

Re: Issue: Unable to fully discover the port map information for the server hardware.
I have learned that this is a known issue with OV version lower than 7.01. I will not be able to apply the SPP flavors of 2023.03.x & 2023.09.x to any Gen10 servers in my OV 6.6 appliances. I have migrated these Gen10+ servers from a OV 6.6 appliance to a 8.0 OV appliance and they upgraded successfully. Naturally, there is always one component that fails to upgrade, so I had to actually manually upgrade one firmware component so the profile could turn green again and become CONSISTENT! Case closed....

Re: Issue: Unable to fully discover the port map information for the server hardware.
@Scott Caryer Hello Scott,
I am currently experiencing the same error ("unable to fully discover the port map...") and therefore cannot migrate the server hardware from the OV 6.60 appliance to an OV 8.0 appliance. Using the "migrate server hardware" option in OV 8.0 fails with the same "port map" error on the target OV appliance.
So may I ask how you carried out the migration of the server? Did you use the migration option successfully?
regards
