Lost Connection (via FQDN)

Hi All,

I'm looking into whether OneView is suitable for our IT Support team. What I'm trying to do might not be possible at all, hence my question. We've been using older HP software, but it's no longer in development and no longer supports the latest iLos.

What I'm trying to do:

We manage our clients' physical servers. OneView seems perfectly suitable for monitoring the hardware and connecting via iLo in the event of a malfunction.
However, with everything I try, OneView seems to fall back to the internal IP address of the iLo Management Processor.

I've configured an FQDN for the iLo on a publicly accessible domain (for example: servername.domain.com).
All necessary ports are open in the firewall and, of course, protected by whitelisting the IP address of the OneView instance. Everything's going well. It can create the OneView_Monitor user, and I receive all the information. Only at the end does it switch from the FQDN to the internal IP address (for example: 192.168.1.10).
I can't get this to work at all. The OneView instance has a valid certificate.

Do you perhaps have a good tip? Or is OneView simply only available for internal monitoring in a data center, for example?

Thanks in advance for your reply!

Re: Lost Connection (via FQDN)

HPE management tool strategy is to focus HPE OneView on "on-prem" datacenter-focused management.  It really isn't fully validated over the internet or WAN, although there typically is no problem resolving or reaching names.

Compute Ops Management addresses world-wide management of servers so matter where they are located as long as they have internet access back to HPE's Greenlake secure cloud.  HPE actively develops both these solutions in combination with iLO.  Compute Ops Management requires at least an iLO 5 generation though.

Dan is correct. COM wvern has an MSP mode where you can help manage or monitor your customers environment securely and seperately from your other customers. While you have visibility into everything.
