minimum firmware requrired to add to oneview

I've been trying to upgrade an old appliance which failed on pre-chcecks because some firmware wasn't at required levels.
So i've found the following matrix
Minimum firmware requirements for managed and monitored devices | HPE OneView 10.2 Support Matrix

which suggests ilo's that need a minimum version, but it also says intelligent provisoning, but looking at my latest version of oneview 10.2 i have plenty of Gen 10 servers which are running under the verision it says of 3.40.

So does that mean the intelligent provisoning version isn't require,d just recomended?

Hello @cesarpegado ,

The IP version is recommended, not strictly required. Intelligent Provisioning is responsible for provisioning OS environments and performing diagnostics locally on the server.

In the OneView Support Matrix, IP v3.40 is listed as the recommended minimum for Gen10 servers.

However, OneView does not directly use Intelligent Provisioning for server management unless provisioning tasks are triggered manually.

If Gen10 servers are running Intelligent Provisioning versions below v3.40 and are successfully managed by OneView, this is because OneView does not directly interact with Intelligent Provisioning for server management tasks. The iLO firmware is the critical component that OneView uses to communicate with servers.

Re: minimum firmware requrired to add to oneview

i was assuming that would be the case, thanks for confirming

Might be worth updating that document to say "recomended version", and not "minimum required"

Thanks

I'll add also that if the IP (that carries with it SSA) on the server is old enough and HPE OneView has configured local storage, there are cases where SSA can't even see the local volumes. ...but there is no functional issue as explained.

Re: minimum firmware requrired to add to oneview

Thanks for the heads up, thanksfully the storage isn't something we normally add in the profile, so that shouldn't be an issue for us. We normally use to set certain BIOS settings

Re: minimum firmware requrired to add to oneview

Thank you for the documentation feedback. IP is not used or needed to manage Gen10 and newer. In fact, if there is a bootable SPP, we will use it instead to manage the configuration for Gen8 and Gen9 servers. There is an automatic fallback mechanism if one isn't loaded on the appliance.

We will examine the docs and update accordingly.
