Hello.
I have started reading up on using vLCM with HPE oneview to install Firmware on our host servers in our vmware environment. Previously we have only done a boot on the latest SPP and installed the firmware which takes up a lot of time.
I'm havign trouble understanding a line in the HPE OneView for VMware vCenter 11.4.0 User Guide.
"For vLCM update, only the hot fix custom SPP created through the custom SPP Web portal is supported."
https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=sd00003081en_us&page=GUID-4CCE2CCE-261F-4A25-B257-424C2C9F27A2.html
What does "the hot fix custom SPP" mean and how do i create it when it does not say what it should contain? To me it sounds like there should be a finished option in the Custom SPP portal but i can't find it. Just the regular SPPs plus patches and then filters.
I'm finding some threads on here that says vLCM does not work with custom baselines. For example this one where an HPE employee says vLCM does not support custom baselines created in SUM
https://community.hpe.com/t5/hpe-oneview/why-vlcm-does-not-work-with-hpeoneview/td-p/7162564
Can someone provide me with some clarification on what works and what doesn't?
Best Regards
/Cederberg

SolutionThere are a few different methods to create a "custom SPP" or a "custom Baseline":
- Download the full ISO image and use SUM to specify the severity, architecture type, operating system, server model and generation and sub-component type.
- Log into the Custom SPP Portal and create a custom baseline from any of the available SPP's, and include any additional MSB's or Patch updates to include.
- Upload a baseline ISO image to an HPE OneView appliance, also upload a component "hotfix" to the same appliance and create a custom baseline on said appliance.
The first two options will create a vLCM-compliant image, while the last will not. We are working on ways to shore up that gap.
