Hello dear all!

I need your help. Could someone please tell me if Primera support auto-tiering ? I hav read that Primera supports Tier-0. Is that might mean that auto-tiering also include ?

Thank all in advance

Re: Auto-Tiering Support

Hello @Samandar.,

On your Primera, if you are using all SSDs (Tier-0 only), then there is no need of auto-tiering (what we call as 'Adaptive Optimization' in 3PAR). So, auto-tiering or AO is not available in Primera.

That's also my Information:

Automated tiering functionality like Adaptive Flash Cache and Adaptive Optimization are no longer available for Primera hybrid systems.

@Cali

If Auto tiering requires in the terms of reference how to comply or support that features?

Good day!

When including a requirement for auto-tiering in your terms of reference or project specifications, it's important to outline the specifics of how you expect the feature to be implemented and supported. Here are some steps to help you structure your requirements:

>> Indicate the types of storage tiers you expect the auto-tiering feature to support. For example, you might specify support for SSDs, HDDs, or even cloud storage tiers if applicable.

>> Define the performance goals you expect the auto-tiering system to achieve. This could involve minimum response times for frequently accessed data or maximum latency for data retrieval.

>> Outline how data migration between different tiers will be managed. Specify whether data movement should be transparent to users and applications, or if there are acceptable times for data migration.

>> Describe the rules and policies that will govern how data is moved between tiers. For example, you might define rules based on data access frequency, data age, or business importance.

>> Specify the monitoring and reporting requirements for the auto-tiering feature. You might want to receive regular reports on data placement, movement, and performance.

>> If your system needs to integrate with other software or platforms, ensure that the auto-tiering feature can be seamlessly integrated into your existing infrastructure.

>> Address how the auto-tiering feature will handle scalability. If your data storage needs increase, the auto-tiering system should be able to handle the added load.

>> Consider how the auto-tiering system will handle hardware failures or other disruptions. Redundancy and failover mechanisms should be in place to ensure data availability.

>> Define the testing procedures and validation criteria that the auto-tiering feature must pass before it's considered ready for deployment.

>> Require thorough documentation of how the auto-tiering feature works, including setup, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.

>> If you're acquiring a product or solution from a vendor, specify the level of support and training you expect from them regarding the auto-tiering feature.

>> Address any compliance or security requirements related to data movement and storage. Ensure that data remains secure and compliant throughout the auto-tiering process.

>> Outline the timeline for implementing the auto-tiering feature and specify the deliverables expected at different stages of the project.

>> Describe how the auto-tiering feature's performance will be evaluated and reviewed after deployment to ensure it's meeting the defined requirements.

>> By including these specific details in your terms of reference, you provide a clear roadmap for how the auto-tiering feature should be implemented and supported within your project.

I hope this give some insights. Let me know...
