Re: HPE Primera RAID Controller
Hello @Dhakshina ! Greetings!
To answer your question, the HPE Primera series uses Hardware-based RAID controllers. !
Primera Raid Architecture
Primera Array comes equipped with new and improved ASIS (Hardware) also as known slice, which has a dedicated hardware offload engine to accelerate RAID parity calculations.

SolutionHi Dakshina,
Generally, all storages use hardware RAID. Software RAID is the feature of server OS.
To explain it in short, in Primera, ASIC (Inside Primera node) is responsible for RAID calculation. RAID configuration works at chunklet level. Depending on the RAID type and set size, the system automatically picks the bunch of chunklets from different disks, apply RAID on them and create Logical Disks (LDs) on demand.
