Global Hot Spare with Smart Array 6i?

Hi!

I have 6 75 GB drives on a SmartArray 6i Controller. I want to set up one LD with Raid1 (2 drives) and one LD with Raid5 (3 drives) and an Global Hot Spare Drive for both LD.

But i can only setup the Hot Spare assigned to one specific LD.. :(

Is it possible to set it up with an global hot spare?

Hallo,
with the RBSU Util from the 6i Controller you can not make a Global Hotspare. After OS Installation you can use the ACU Util to make the Hotspare avaibel for both LD.

Hi Axel!

You can make one disk drive as global hotspare on all logigal drives. Using ACU (from SmartStart or from OS - HP System Tools) click Locigal drive, you will see hot-spare managment link. Do it operation on all log.drives as you wish.
