Microsoft Windows Updates
I have purchased a few HP ProLiant DL380 G4 Storage Servers with Microsoft's Windows Storage Server 2003 operating system. I tried to run a Windows Update and it does not work. What is the best way to install Microsoft security patches to one of these systems?

Re: Microsoft Windows Updates
Eamon:
By default, the Windows Update services are disabled on a Storage Server.
Did you enable the service first before trying the Windows Update site?
Please see this link before you install...

Basically, HP has given the go ahead on installing MS patches and Service packs, but they recommend that you consult with them, or the website, for guidence when it comes to major Service Packs.
Installation methods vary. The easiest is to just put it on the network somewhere or CD, run it from the NAS... and let it do it's thing.

Re: Microsoft Windows Updates
I suggest paying close attention to this bulletin before applying any updates to Windows Storage Server.

You should apply for Service Release 5.5 CD directly from HP which includes SP1. Luckily I found out in a test environment!
